Snowstorm Grocery Haul & Birthday Shopping for Josh — We Had to Grab EVERYTHING Before the Storm!

The weather has been absolutely beautiful the last few days — we were enjoying temps in the 40s, melting snow, and that little taste of spring that makes you think winter might finally be loosening its grip. Then BAM… a snowstorm warning out of nowhere. ❄️

They were predicting up to a foot of snow, and we didn’t even know it was coming until the last minute. Living in the Upper Peninsula, that’s just how it goes — the weather can turn on you in a heartbeat. After the last storm knocked our power out for a couple of days and turned everything upside down, I knew I wasn’t taking any chances this time.

So I made a quick run to town before the storm hit. If the roads got bad (and they always do), we wouldn’t be able to get back out for a few days. I figured I might as well get our grocery shopping done and make sure, we had everything we needed to ride out the storm safely.

But this trip wasn’t just about storm prep…

Josh’s birthday fell on the very day the snowstorm was expected to hit! 🎉 That meant I still needed to finish shopping for his presents, grab party supplies, and pick up the special foods he requested for his birthday dinner.

This quickly turned into a two-in-one haul — storm prep AND birthday shopping.

I headed to Target to grab birthday gifts and party supplies, then made my way to the grocery store where Josh works to finish our grocery shopping. Joshie even helped wrap things up by picking out his birthday cake and deciding what he wanted for dinner.

Despite the crazy weather outside, all the kids came over and we celebrated together. He was so excited about his presents, and it turned into such a fun and special day.

And the weather? It was just as messy as predicted. It rained, then froze, then dumped nearly a foot of snow, and then rained again. The roads were horrible and icy — definitely the kind of storm that makes you grateful you prepared ahead of time.

Thank you so much for watching this panic grocery haul slash birthday shopping adventure. I didn’t have much time to get everything done, but it all came together and Josh had a wonderful birthday.
