After growing up and living in the southeastern US for most of my life, I moved to the gorgeous and green Pacific northwest in 2002. I was extremely happy living in North Portland. Well, at least until the pandemic hit, when my family and I realized our 1100 square foot North Portland 1926 bungalow with 4 tiny closets and a postage stamp for a back yard was chipping away at our sanity. We made a move 15 minutes north, over the Columbia River, to Portland's beautiful sister city of Vancouver, Washington, aka The Couve. We absolutely love it up here! We are a quick 15 minute drive from Portland friends and we also get to live every day up here in the quiet and clean 'burbs on 1/3 acre. We have access to restaurants, sales tax-free shopping, fun and friends in Portland, plus a decent sized house with a massive yard for outdoor entertaining. It’s the best of both worlds! Not only that, but Vancouver has become a destination spot in its own right with upscale restaurants and shops on the waterfront and downtown, as well as the enormous Farmers' Market on Saturdays and Sundays.
