This video is my Splashfoam Toilet Cleaner review of a possible scam that may not be legitimate, claiming the product can easily clean toilets in a "magical" way, all without any "painful scrubbing." I investigate potential scams for a living, and I'm sorry to report that this product checked a lot of the boxes I look for. If viewers see any positive Splashfoam Toilet Cleaner reviews online, whether for Amazon, Walmart, or other stores, there's a chance they may not be legitimate. Also, Consumer Reports never looked into Splashfoam products. I noticed some people searching for that data, but it doesn't exist.
Splashfoam Toilet Cleaner is showing up on YouTube in sponsored advertisements. The ads claim that a nameless stock video actor created the product and that it can help amazingly clean toilets in abandoned houses. However, a quick review of the landing page resulting from that YouTube advertisement showed photo comparisons falsely claiming that people used Splash Foam Toilet Cleaner to clean toilets. Using reverse-image searches, I traced the roots of each photo comparison to commercial companies or old Facebook posts, proving that Splashfoam Toilet Cleaner had nothing to do with the photos.
I also noticed other discrepancies during my Splashfoam Toilet Cleaner review, such as the promise of five-star reviews and another page claiming the product had hundreds of thousands of happy customers. Neither number showed attribution or proof. Where are those reviews? Further, in my video, I quickly looked at a Trustpilot page for Splashfoam products but missed a different one on this page: https://www.trustpilot.com/review/splashfoam.com. That page showed a whopping 354 reviews with an average score of 1.1 out of 5. Meanwhile, a BBB page I missed showed over 500 reviews with an average score of 1.05 out of 5: https://www.bbb.org/us/fl/tampa/profile/online-retailer/splash-foaming-cleaner-0653-90388864/customer-reviews. In other words, the product received terrible, awful reviews—possibly the worst review scores I've ever seen.
Basically, here's my Splashfoam Toilet Cleaner review: It appears the product is possibly made in China, shipped to a fulfillment center in the U.S., and then sent to customers from there. While this might be standard practice for some cleaning products, the difference with Splashfoam Toilet Cleaner is that no information whatsoever is available about who created the product. The only physical mailing address visible online showed a business agent's address, meaning the true person who registered with the business agent wanted anonymity. Additionally, the bad reviews on Trustpilot did nothing to reassure me. A score of 1.05 out of 5 for 500+ reviews is really, really bad.
My recommendation is to stick with trustworthy products found in stores in your town. Look for online reviews from Trustpilot and the BBB, or even better, Consumer Reports. Thank you for watching.
