Welcome to a very special episode as this time we’re are looking at the store chain GAME here in the U.K.

GAME has been a staple of the U.K. high streets for years but in every changing times you have to question is it Game over for GAME?

With the ever changing financial climate and the continued increase of online shopping as well as fierce completion for online retailers such as Amazon and rival stores on the high street such as CEX, can GAME survive or will it join the continuously growing list of stores gone from our high street such as Electronics boutique, Gamestation and Woolworths to name a few.

In this episode we’ll be visiting a selection of GAME stores to look at the good and bad points of these stores, try and find some bargains and of course answer the big question, is it game over for GAME?

Here’s a little history of GAME:

The company's origins lie in the founding of the Rhino Group by Terry Norris and Bev Ripley in 1992. A number of mergers and acquisitions followed during the 1990s, and in 1999, the company was purchased by Electronics Boutique Limited, which rebranded itself as The Game Group. The company continued to expand during the 2000s, purchasing several retailers including Gameswizards in Australia. In 2007, its parent company purchased its rival store, Gamestation.

In June 2019, Game agreed to a takeover of the company by Frasers Group for £52 million. The group have since closed down some standalone Game outlets, reopening these as concessions inside nearby House of Fraser and Sports Direct stores, as well as expanding Game's online business.
